Company History

The history of DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH & CO. goes back to the founding of the Royal Bavarian Rifle Factory in 1801, a company that soon became known for their use of the finest craftsmen and materials to produce superior products. This reputation led to their acquisition and integration into the »Deutsche Werke« conglomerate in 1918. Their industrial experience was utilized in the production of tools, calipers, machinery, and fpr the first time, small air-motor operated equipment. The manager if the Amberg facility, Mr. Otto Schulz, a mechanical engineer by training, bought the company in 1931. The entity was given the name Deutsche Präzisionswerkzeuge AG (German Precision Tools Inc.) and started the production of air operated tools.

During the next three decades, DEPRAG grew and expanded the business at a rapid pace. in 1964, Carl Schulz took over the management of the company, together with his brother-in-law, Hans Pfeiffer. Immediately, Carl Schulz pushed the expansion into international markets. A major milestone in this development came in 1981 with the opening of the U.S. subsidiary Inc. in Lewisville, Texas.

After over 75 years as DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH & CO. we continue the traditions of an independent family owned and operated business. Today the company is managed by the third generation of the Schulz-Hallmann and Pfeiffer families.

Chronology

1801 Founding of the Royal Bavarian Rifle Factory

1878 Move to the current factory area

1918 Integration into the Deutsche Werke Group.
Change to non-military products, such as the manufacturing of tools, fixtures and compressed air products.

1931 DEUTSCHE PRÄZISIONSWERKZEUG AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT
The Amberg subsidiary of the Deutsche Werke was to be closed. Otto Schulz assumes part of the production and establishes DEPRAG SCHULZ GMBH & CO.

1970 Expansion of the manufacturing area. New construction of the head office building.

1981 Founding of the US-subsidiary: DEPRAG INC. in Lewisville/Texas.

1993 Founding of DEPRAG Skandinavia AB in Eskilstuna/Sweden.

1998 Takeover of NAREX a.s. and setting up of DEPRAG CZ a.s. in Lázne Belohrad/Czech Rep.

2001 Founding of DEPRAG France in Hagenau/France and DEPRAG China in Suzhou/China.

Today A sound tradition and outstanding technology are our base for future developments.
