DEPRAG opens new logistics center in Amberg

A milestone for efficiency and future security, a commitment to the Amberg location.

After four years of intensive planning and construction, DEPRAG SCHULZ GmbH & Co. KG celebrated the grand opening of its new logistics center in Amberg on October 24, 2025. Around 50 guests, including Mayor Michael Cerny, majority shareholder Ingrid Schulz-Hallmann, Managing Director Dr. Erik Hallmann, and Managing Partner Dr.-Ing. Rolf Pfeiffer, attended the official commissioning ceremony.

With its modern logistics center, DEPRAG has reached another milestone in its more than 90-year history. The first of two planned construction phases was completed in the summer of 2025 – covering an area of 1,100 square meters and representing an investment of approximately five million euros.

State-of-the-art warehouse technology for maximum efficiency

The new building offers impressive capacity: tens of thousands of storage spaces, 1,600 Euro pallet spaces, and eight fully automated Logimate systems with a total of 60,500 compartments ensure smooth processes. Over 2,500 inbound and outbound transactions can be handled daily – while simultaneously requiring 60% less floor space.

“With the commissioning of this innovative logistics center, we are creating the foundation to make our manufacturing and shipping processes significantly faster and more efficient, and to align them with future needs,” emphasizes Dr.-Ing. Rolf Pfeiffer. “This will result in enormous productivity gains at our headquarters in Amberg.”

Ten employees manage the operations at the new center. DEPRAG is also looking for two trainees to become warehouse logistics specialists, who can begin their training in the new building in 2026.

Sustainably planned – architecturally integrated

DEPRAG placed particular emphasis on sustainability and architectural integration. The modern ceramic facade echoes the look of the historic brick halls and blends harmoniously into the existing site. The building is equipped with a photovoltaic system, energy-efficient LED lighting, district heating underfloor heating, and an innovative nitrogen fire suppression system.

A high-tech narrow aisle forklift with navigation system from Jungheinrich ensures safe and precise storage up to a height of 7.5 meters.

A clear commitment to the Amberg location

“This project demonstrates the courage to invest in the future and innovation. The new logistics center is a clear commitment to Amberg as a business location and secures jobs in our city,” said Ingrid Schulz-Hallmann. Mayor Michael Cerny also praised the company's vision: “With this new building, DEPRAG proves once again that industry and innovation have a strong future in Amberg.”

The architectural design was the responsibility of evh Architekten from Amberg. The companies Bieda and Färber carried out the plumbing, heating, and electrical installations.
