Screw dispenser for automatic screw dispensing
Screw dispensers supply screws automatically and reduce manual handling. Ideal for fast, standardized assembly processes at manual workstations with high production volumes.
When is a screw dispenser the right solution?
Screw dispensers are the ideal solution when screws need to be supplied quickly, reliably, and without additional manual movements. They are especially suitable for applications with high production volumes and recurring assembly processes.
At the same time, they are an ideal entry point into the automation of manual workstations, as existing workflows can be optimized without major integration effort and gradually automated further.
Typical applications include:
Standardized manual workstations
Series production with short cycle times
High-throughput processes
Applications with consistent screw types
Automatic screw dispensing reduces manual handling and significantly speeds up the assembly process.
Advantages at a glance
- Process-reliable:
Minimization of the risk of errors by providing the correct number and type of screws with the automatic screw dispenser.
- Flexible:
Can be combined with various DEPRAG feeding systems and can supply up to three screw types with one screw dispenser.
- Technically clean:
In combination with the DEPRAG Particle Killer, the screw dispenser enables particularly clean and low-particle screw supply.
- Ergonomic:
The automatic screw dispenser supplies the correct screw directly at the point of use.
How the screw dispenser works
- Screws are fed from the feeding unit into the container of the screw dispenser.
- The operator reaches into the pick-up area. An optical sensor detects the hand and opens a slide.
- Screws fall from the container of the screw dispenser into the operator’s hand.
The DEPRAG screw dispenser is optimized for supplying screws with a maximum head diameter of 12 mm and a screw length of 30 mm (small design) or 60 mm (large design).
Screw dispenser for efficient assembly processes
Screw dispensers are systems for the automatic dispensing of screws and enable fast, reliable supply directly at the workstation. The screws are separated and made directly available to the operator, often by ejecting them or feeding them into a defined position.
In contrast to a screw presenter, the screw supply is not passive, but actively performed by the system.
Decision support: screw dispenser or screw presenter?
Which solution fits your process?
Screw dispensers and screw presenters perform different tasks within feeding technology. While screw dispensers actively dispense the screws, screw presenters provide them for controlled pick-up.
Screw dispensers are ideal for:
high cycle rates
standardized processes
maximum efficiency
Screw presenters are ideal for:
flexible assembly
different screw types
manual control
| Screw Dispenser | Screw Presenter |
|---|---|
| Automatic dispensing | Manual pick-up |
| Screw is dispensed | Screw is supplied for pick-up |
| Focus on speed | Focus on positioning |
| Ideal for series production | Ideal for flexible assembly |

Variants and systems of screw dispensers
Different screw dispenser systems are available depending on the application. These include, among others:
automatic screw dispensers for continuous processes
vibration-based systems for screw separation
screw separators with integrated dispensing function
solutions for different screw sizes and types
These systems enable flexible adaptation to different assembly requirements.
How does a screw dispenser work?
A screw dispenser separates screws via a feeding system and then dispenses them in a controlled manner. Depending on the system, dispensing is sensor-controlled, cycle-controlled, mechanical, or pneumatic.
This controlled screw supply ensures a consistent flow of screws and increases process reliability.
Screw separation as a key technology
Screw separation is a central component of every screw dispenser. It ensures that screws are correctly oriented and supplied individually. Screw separation follows this principle:
Separation of screws from bulk material
Orientation for safe further processing
Reliable feeding to the dispensing point
Basis for automatic screw dispensing
From analysis to the optimal screw dispenser
Analysis of the assembly process
Evaluation of requirements, cycle times, and general conditions
Selection of the right screw dispenser
Adaptation to screw type, application, and performance requirements
Integration into existing workstations
Seamless integration into existing processes and systems
Fine-tuning and optimization
Adjustment for maximum efficiency and process reliability
Efficient screw supply for your assembly processes
Screw dispensers increase the efficiency of assembly processes, reduce manual work steps, and ensure reliable screw supply. Automatic dispensing speeds up workflows while increasing process reliability. This enables consistent results even at high production volumes and helps sustainably improve productivity.
